If you have extra foam swords please bring them.
Apples to Apples Hosted by: Cara Barlow and Anna (14) & Molly (11) Apples to Apples was the chosen party game of the year in 1999. In Apples to Apples, players try to match noun cards to an adjective card, one player gets to judge the best match (this is subjective and the official rules encourage the judge to pick the match that is "most creative, humorous or interesting"). The role of judge usually passes to another player for the next round and the game continues. The Barlows have a party box version of the game with the expansion pack and the junior version of the game.

Human Scavenger Hunt Hosted by: Laura McDonald Make new friends on a human scavenger hunt. We will have a list of attributes (such as: someone who's met a movie star, has a twin, last name starts with Z). Participants will interview people to get items checked off their list. The first players to find people to match everything on their list wins. This was a great ice breaker last year!
Kids' Marketplace Hosted by: Laura McDonald Kids can set up a display of their own creations. They can then trade with each other, or sell for real money (parents may want to help their younger children set appropriate prices, or not). (Kids can even just give stuff away if they want to.) Kids can show and be proud of their creativity and skill, and even make some fun money! Grown-ups can also shop at the Kids' Marketplace. Here are some possible creations one might find in a Kids' Marketplace: paintings or drawings (original or copies), greeting cards (remember that Valentine's Day will be coming up), hand-made paper, jewelry, candles, soap, picture frames, knitted/crocheted items, tie-dyed stuff, balloon-animals, etc...) Also if a child plays an instrument or sings they can bring Cd's of themselves (bring a pen for autographs, too). Or if a child writes poetry or stories, they can bring copies of their work to sell. Kids can also offer services, like fortune telling or portrait drawing or hair-braiding. Advertisements - If they want to, kids or their parents can post (on the YahooGroup UWWG site) an ad for what they will be selling. That way, we can all get an idea of what we'll find at the Marketplace, and can start planning what to get our friends and family for Valentine's Day, upcoming birthdays, etc…! (This would also help us know how many kids are planning to set up a shop....so we can make sure there are enough tables or at least floor space). Signs - If they want to, kids can make a sign or banner, or whatever, to attract shoppers to their table. You can make these at home in preparation, or I'll have paper, crayons, glue, and tape in the room Wednesday morning for making signs. Kids can be creative and have fun with this...give your shop a name if you want to! We're playing "marketplace", but it's also a real marketplace! There will be an area to hang up signs during the days before the Marketplace, to "advertise". Setting-up - The room will be open before the Marketplace begins, so kids can set up. Tables and chairs will be provided. Kids with items for sale or trade should plan on staying at the Marketplace while it's going on, or at least a representative (basically, someone to take the money for any sales, or to answer questions). If he or she wants to just leave a box for money and use the honor-system, that's up to the individual, but no one else is responsible for keeping an eye on stuff.

Babcock, an American traveler in China, devised a set of rules for Western play and invented a complete terminology. He patented the game under the trademark Mah Jongg. The goal of the game, which is similar in principle to rummy, is to accumulate sets. Paper Bag Scrapbooks Hosted by: Laura Riesenberg Scrapbooks made from paper lunch bags are an inexpensive way to capture your memories. Simple enough that even the youngest crafter can create one, they can be embellished so that even the most advanced crafter finds them challenging. A great part of the paper bag scrapbook is that there are several side pockets that you can load with memorabilia or with mini scrapbook pages. Use them to document an event (such as UWWG), fieldtrip, baby's first year, birthday, dog's/cat's life, or as a mom's/grandma's brag book. All supplies will be provided, just bring your creativity! You will leave with a scrapbook ready to be filled with photos once you return home.
